The New Century Theatre Company for the Tour of Pygmalion
Workshops

In November Bill and Jen returned to The Norbury Theatre Youth Group and in 3 weeks put together a performance of Act V of 'A MidSummer Night's Dream'.

The group were amazing, learning all of their lines and designing both costumes and props.

We hope this relationship will continue to flourish as we enjoy working with such a commited and talented group of young actors.

And, of course, Matilda couldn't miss this opportunity to join in with the fun!

Throughout May 2008, we repeated a successful workshop programme that took place at Bishopton Children’s Centre in 2007. The sessions were for 2-4 year olds and parents were invited to join in too! The workshops featured storytelling, music and art activities in the hope that parents would be inspired to continue these activities at home. The workshops were on every Friday in May at the new Children's Centre at Studley Infants School and were a great success!

In 2007 Bill and Jen completed a four week course of workshops with the Youth Theatre at Norbury Theatre, Droitwich.

Using the ‘Old Possums Book of Practical Cats’, Jen had the group using animals as inspiration for creating high and low status characters. These characters were then thrown into a variety of absurd situations, stuck in a lift, in a rowdy classroom… The group developed their improvisation and character defining skills.

Bill used Edward Lear’s absurd poem ‘The Jumblies’ as a performance piece this year. The group had three sessions to rehearse their parts before the performance for parents on the final evening. Some members of the group played The Chorus, whilst others painted their faces green and their hands blue and became ‘The Jumblies’! The group made pieces of art to be included in the final performance and also used the poem to create their own pieces of absurd poetry.
