The New Century Theatre Company came into being on the first day of the year 2000.

It is the brainchild of Bill Bowen and his daughter, Jennifer Rigby.

The company started with two aims; to bring live, professional theatre to the towns and villages of the West Midlands and North Wales; and to provide employment opportunities for up and coming actors who need to find the roles that convince audiences and casting agents of their talents.

We have established a loyal fan-base at many of our regular venues; they return each year because they know they are guaranteed an evening of classic comedy combined with authentic costumes, innovative set design and sparkling Midlands talent!

NCTC also has a dedicated team of actors; they build the set, organise the props and sometimes operate the lights, sound and the curtains! And for each production some of them return for more of the same! We try to create casts that are a combination of 'NCTC Veterans' and fresh new talent. All of our cast members are Midlands based, all incredibly talented and dedicated to putting on the best show they can... every night!

From 2010 NCTC will be extending it's repertoire by touring texts that are used in both GCSE and A-Level examinations (in Performing Arts, Drama and English). This new venture will see the company performing and running workshops in schools and colleges as well as at some of our regular theatre venues. This is an exciting development for the company, we are also hoping to extend our touring season, so do keep an eye out for up-dates!

NCTC is also establishing a reputation for providing high quality, well researched and structured workshops. These range from Early Years Creative Play Workshops to exam specific workshops relating to texts currently on tour. Details of our workshop program can be found on our Workshops Page.

Whilst we are still keen to follow our origional aims, we are hoping to develop the company with more extensive tours, a diversity of productions and a strong team of company members. We hope that if you are thinking of going to the theatre, booking a production for your school or looking for a workshop provider, you'll think of us first!

NCTC remains a company with a family atmosphere, rehearsals are frantic but fun, tours are intense but rewarding and everyone gets involved from Joan and Margaret in N. Wales who source all of our costumes to Matilda and Natasha.
